Aims and Scope

Journal of Eastern Europa and Balkan Studies (JEEBS) is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to advancing research in the broad and evolving field of Slavic Studies. Published by Baku Slavic University, JEEBS serves as a platform for original scholarly research on the broader Eastern European and Balkan region, including studies on interstate relations, as well as the languages, literature, culture, and history of the peoples of the region.

The journal seeks to publish original and innovative research articles, review essays, and book reviews that contribute to a deeper understanding of the region’s complex dynamics.

Journal of Eastern Europa and Balkan Studies seeks to explore the multifaceted nature of Eastern Europe and Balkan societies through the lenses of language, literature, culture, history, and international relations. It welcomes contributions that examine:

• Linguistics – theoretical and applied research in the structure, history, and use of Slavic languages.
• Literature – studies of classical and contemporary Slavic literary texts, authors, genres, and movements.
• Cultural Studies – analyses of cultural narratives, practices, and transformations within Slavic-speaking communities.
• Geopolitics and Regional Studies – research into the political and strategic dynamics of Slavic countries and their roles in global and regional affairs.
• Intercultural Communication – studies on language contact, bilingualism, hybrid identities, and transnational cultural dialogue.

Peer Review and Editorial Process

All submissions to JEEBS undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic integrity, originality, and alignment with the journal’s aims. Manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field.

• Authors typically receive an initial decision within 6–8 weeks.
• The journal adheres to international ethical standards and plagiarism screening.
